Spirit Rock: Daylong on #MeToo

To Register:

#MeToo: A Daylong for Women

All those who self-identify as female are welcome to join.

Have you been impacted by the #metoo movement? Do you feel the pain and the strength of those who have come before you? Do you long to sit in a circle of women to reflect where you are at during this watershed moment?

At the core of Buddhist teachings is the principle of non-harming and the innate goodness within our hearts. And yet, violence against women is pervasive. Misogyny permeates, shapes, and suffocates the life-force of our society. With the unceasing flood of women’s stories in the wake of the #metoo movement, we are seeing the courage of countless women speaking out against injustices, ranging from microaggressions, to explicit, systematic, and systemic abuse. These injustices have laid buried in the depths of our individual and collective psyches, but no longer.

We hear you. We believe you. We are you.

Weaving silent meditation, dharma reflections and facilitated conversation, this day will offer space for us to be right where we are and gain strength and creativity from each other to redefine our narratives. It is a special event with Spirit Rock proceeds benefiting Spirit Rock's scholarship fund.

There will be a community altar, where personal objects are welcome to be blessed with our presence and prayers throughout the day. You will be able take items home.

Please bring a journal and a packed lunch.
